Cold Sunrise

1/160 sec. f/11 ISO 100

It was 22 degrees Fahrenheit (not Celsius, you metric weirdos) when I arrived at the lake before sunrise in order to shoot the sunrise. Between the temperature and the wind, I could go about 20 minutes with gloves on before my fingers would start to hurt.

I really like the way the sky and clouds blend in with the sunrise.

Gorgeous Brian...love that sun flare. I hear you on the cold hands...Jer n I had to keep going in the house while shoveling the latest snow, to warm our hands. Come on summer...this winter has been one for the record books so far!!!

Minus 6 Celsius, info from a down under metric Weirdo!!! Super photo, do you have those hand-warmers, activated when you rub the inner disk?? Magic for that instant relief from biting cold. Super photo, and well worth the pain. Cheers, Jean.

"metric weirdos" - ha, love it! Stunning sunrise. Thanks for risking frostbite to get this. We're supposed to his 22 Tuesday morning. Unusual for our area.

22 F...you wuss!!!! That's our normal winter morning here!!! That's weatshirt weather!!! Just a week or two ago it was well below zero here!!!...
I wear fingerless gloves when it's cold out...and my hands are in my pockets frequently!!! And don't forget that hat!!!

TheChieftess said...

Just kidding!!! Although 22 degrees is normal here in the morning or at night...20 minutes is pretty good without gloves!!! Be careful though...frostbite can creep up on you!!! Do think about the fingerless gloves...I went online for good knit ones...and being a girl...they had to be cute too!!! They're lots of good ones...not so many in the stores!!! It helps a lot!!!

Beautiful shot. I love the blues and golds, but it definitely looks cold.

Ouch, that hurts. (the metric weirdo comment) LOL You got a beautiful shot of the sunrise. I'm sure it was painful on the fingers too. I found that out on Saturday. I had a ski mitt on my left hand and a lined leather glove on my right so I could take pictures and would trade off to the right mitten when I couldn't stand the pain. Not fun but you do what you have to do. :)

It's a lovely sunrise. You are certainly brave to go out in the cold though to capture it. I was out the other day in 40 something weather and I felt cold.
