Shore Lunch
Or at least it looked promising. This Ring-billed Gull found a dead fish along the rocky shoreline and decided to give it a go. He would pick it up then drop it, pick it up then drop it, and this happened several times. The gull apparently determined the fish was too far past its expiration date and left it in search of fresher morsels. I'm afraid there's not much good that can be said about a meal that even a seagull passes up. Cue the raccoons.

Ring-billed Gulls On Ice
Some Ring-billed Gulls winter in Kentucky and these photos were taken at a lake not far from where I live. In the first shot, the gulls were resting on a section of ice in the middle of the lake. I was extremely lucky to get the photos I did. The gulls generally wouldn't fly close enough to make the shots worthwhile.
