Morning, Moon, And Night

Over the past couple of weeks, we've had some clear nights and the moon has been very visible and bright in several phases. Not only has it been visible at night, but in the morning and early evening as well.

This photo was taken around 7:15 in the morning.

These shots were taken in the evening as the sun was going down.

And, obviously, the night shots. The last one being of the most recent full moon.

If you live in the country or have a place away from buildings, hills, and trees, you can catch the moon while it's still low on the horizon. That can make for some dramatic shots before it gets too high in the sky.

Love these moon shots. I have been trying for years to get shots like these. I must not have the right kind of lens because mine all end up getting the delete key.

Thanks for stopping by my "lotta bull" post. I also have another blog that you can reach from the sidebar of my photo blog. I had a lot of interest recently in a post I did about a rather smart horse.

perfect Brian; great ones of the moon so clear in a blue sky too.

Your shots are always awe-inspiring, Brian! I have taken some shots of the moon, but when I see yours, I start coveting that 500mm lens I want so desperately! Mine just can't capture that kind of detail! Beautiful - just beautiful!

I agree with Linda - I've never been able to capture that sort of detail on the moon. Beautiful shots. The first is my favorite!

Beautiful moon shots, I wish I could get good ones like these.

the crispness and clarity of the morning and night shots are beautiful. but there is something about that 2nd shot that just pulls me in - almost mystical.

Wonderful, clear shots of the MOON! What lens did you use, if you don't mind me asking. I've wondered about that with all your great bird shots.

I'm with Amy -- what lens did you use and do you recall the settings? Spill it, Bri! :)

Gorgeous, perfect shots.

nice shots...I see others asking "how/what" questions...not sure how you do it, but I follow Scott Kelby's advice: manual mode, f-11, 1/200 to 250, long telephoto lens.

Beautiful shots of the moon, love them.

Beautiful like the moon you have photographed. I think it is failed to the moon on the beautiful photo. I always get "moon spots' in, so it is not pretty.

Greetings, Helma

Very cool shots! There's so much detail in the 1st one it looks like it's wrapped in sand paper... the bumps of the sand paper shows up really well in certain light... maybe that wasn't the best analogy? LoL! =)

These are gorgeous moon shots! Our yard is surrounded by trees and I have to get outside of the perimiter to take moon shots and never seem to get around to it. That's got to change. And use my tripod that never leaves the closet too! :)

Shooting the moon is tricky unless you know how to fool all those automatic settings. I like the sharp focus and the detail in the craters on the almost full shots. I've got a few moon shots in my camera from the past week but the clouds have not been so kind here.

Those photos are amazing. We live in the country but are surrounded by woods and hills. Guess it's not in my future so I will live vicariously through your photography.

I've been "stalking" the moon for the past couple of weeks also, Brian. My shots are not in your league though! Love the patterns on the moon that you captured.

Well Brian, do I dare say 'love those moon shots' - out in the rural area that could be construed as something different entirely. ;)
All kidding aside these are excellent shots!
I love a daytime moon as much as the night and your second shot is so lovely.

Those are just divine! I am in the city and we never get to see that kinda thing. When I used to live up in the mountains I used to just LOVE that sort of thing, such a pleasure!

Brian, these are wonderful!!! Wow, makes me want to get out and view the moon, for I am early to rise and early to sleep and miss the moon!

I love the night shots but the morning shots are wonderful. I haven't tried shooting in the early morning.
