I followed this Green Heron as it was hunting along the water's edge. After being unsuccessful in its quest for food, it flew to this stump giving me an opportunity for a few nice shots.
This heron does not look anything like the one that taunts me by flying up and down our creek never allowing me time to catch a shot. It is a beautiful one. Like the green in contrast tot he blue I see. genie
Great shot! Gorgeous colours :) You didn't happen to get a shot of it extending its neck, did you..?! (I had to look up the Green Heron 'cause I was wondering how it got its name, and I saw some photos of Green Herons extending their necks; awesome!)
Finally, a post! And a great one at that. Good to see you again. The green heron can be so difficult to capture, but you nailed this shot. The perfect pose on the perfect log against the perfect backdrop.
I was sure glad to see you back! I have missed your wonderful photos - this one is no exception. I am still waiting to get a glimpse of one of these fellas!
Always, always the detail in your bird photos is amazing. It's great to see the colors and parts of creatures that are usually so far away and move so quickly.
