This is the first photo I've posted that was taken with my new Canon 40mm "pancake" lens. I haven't had the opportunity to use it much, but will be shooting with it exclusively in the near future.
1/60 sec. f/11 ISO 100
You can see why the lens is called a "pancake". It barely extends beyond the grip of my camera. The lens makes for a lightweight, unobtrusive rig and it has a close focus distance of eleven inches. I'm anxious to find out what it can do.

You have found another way to take great photos. I look forward to seeing what it can do.
Nice shot-love the orange tone and the dark winter trees.
really looking forward to seeing what YOU can do with that lens! :)
So far so good..thats a great shot! I bet your going to have fun with this lens...it will be much lighter too.
I can't wait to see what it does too.
I got my new lens the big dog (sigma)
Easier to hold, perfect shot, will you use it outside every time? Silly question, I cannot remember an inside photo yet? but maybe I have missed one somewhere. Greetings from Jean
Great shot, new lens, Congrats!
Congrats! I've heard of this but haven't seen it in action. Have fun playing!
Ohhhhh...lens envy here!!!
What are the features of a pancake lens?..besides taking great shots to enJOY.
Beautiful sunset, also looking forward to see what else that new lens can do.
I'm thinking if anyone out there can get great shots with that new lens, it will be YOU! Love the sunset!
A nice piece of kit Brian I'm sure you will produce some stunning images with it.
Congrats on that new lens. If the sunset shot is an indication of how it works then I'd say you've got a winner!
I like the idea of the more managable lens. One of my biggest problems is I don't carry a Tripod with me most of the time and it is hard to take clear shots with a big heavy lens. I am waiting for them to put out a telephoto lens this size (Ha!). Wouldn't that be nice :). Nice shot Brian ... I will be watching to see what you do with this lens.

Wow, the new lenses abound! :) Can't wait to see some great macro work and hear what you think of it.
Now that is a VERY cool lens!
Ah, yes!! I have seen this lens many times on the internet. It does a wonderful job!
I have the Canon 50mm f/1.8... also called the "nifty fifty". I really need to use it more!!
