Night Lights

Given a choice between living in the city or BFE, I would pick BFE every time. Not that there's anything wrong with city living - lots of people enjoy it. I'm just not one of them. Give me the country and a pack of wolves for guard dogs. That silliness aside, most of us have to go "into town" at some point. Cities and towns vary in their attractiveness. Some have great skylines and architecture, while others, well, not so much. But even the dull cities often come alive when darkness falls and the lights come on. these are great!

the depth and color you achieved in the 2nd photo is fantastic! the motion in the 3rd works well because of the curve in the side street - looks like everything's on the move. and the last shot with the lighting is spectacular.

nicely done!!!

you need to load in a larger format (you look like you're set to medium but your blog could probably accommodate large photos w/o having to be resized). just a suggestion! :)

and, yeah, i'm all about BFE! just keep the wolves, er, coyotes at bay (pun intended!)

These photos and the ones in the previous post are actually in "large" format. Anything bigger exceeds the post width. I'm trying to come up with an "actual" size that will fill the post, but not exceed the borders.

Right now I'm just experimenting with the camera to see what settings give me the results I want. These pics and the Water Color photos were all shot with varying manual settings.

Very nice Brian! I may venture into the big city a total of 5-6 times a year; otherwise, it's home or my little town, which is fine by me.

Did you get a new camera? Just curious. :)

In fact, I did get a new camera! :-) A Canon 60D with a couple of lenses (18-135 and 55-250). I used to own a couple of SLR's, but got away from semi-serious photography for a long time. I was just using point and shoots. I'm trying to reacquaint myself with everything again. It's a bit of a learning curve with the dSLR capabilities, but I love it!

Love the last 2 shots especially..

While I appreciate the beauty cities have..and the culture, and great food..I'm happiest on my hill in BFE!

Nice shots - the lens on that is a good one.

I think I was born 100 years late. I think I would have been a great Jeremiah Johnson. I think sometimes my wife wished that too ;). LOL!

There is something definitely enchanting about the city every now and then. I always find myself going downtown during the snowy Christmas season to walk around and soak it in. It gives me a feeling that I really can't describe but I like it. Then I go home and am also thankful I live where I do.

Great pictures Brian. You've really captured the essence of this place.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. I'm still learning, but enjoyed getting these night shots.

I'll be glad to help if I can, Dennis.
