I photographed these Red Squirrels while visiting the Blue Ridge Mountains. They're noticeably smaller than their common Gray Squirrel cousins and are easily recognized by their reddish coloration. Despite their small size, Red Squirrels are not afraid to let you know when they're perturbed. They chatter and bark quite noisily. Eurasian Red Squirrels are similar in color, but have large ear tufts.

they're certainly photogenic, and wonderfully photographed!
Hi!!!.. Beautiful pictures of this lovely squirrel.. Cheers!!!..

Love the last shot. We have the tufty ear ones here, but quite a way up north from where I live.
What great shots, Brian! That last one seems to be warning you - not one step closer! And I loved the one where he was splayed out on the tree just above the hole, which I suppose was the nest.
Brian, they are adorable. Even though I have visited that area, I have never seen them before~
they are adorable! i remember red squirrels from my Wis youth, but we don't get them here in texas. just their big ol' feeder-raiding fox cousins.
Truly amazing collection!
The last one is outstanding!
Wish you a great weekend :)
The UK version of this is in danger of extinction. Its s nice you get to regularly see them. I love that last image though.

Great shots, our red squirrels look slightly different from yours here in the UK. Looks like they are playing with each other.
Adorable creatures, all the shots have turned out splendidly!
So I guess you were barked at? Especially that last guy!
These little guys are so cute. Great shots!
A lot of people look down on the squirrel for raiding the bird feeders but they are one of my favorite critters.
Your photos are priceless Brian!
Love them all!
Great captures Brian... you have just made cute...cuter!
Great pics! I love the last one where he is looking straight into the camera. These guys are so little in comparison to the Fox squirrels we have here.
The last picture is so comical. Certainly didn't know about 2 different red squirrels and the ear tufts. EnJOYing learning something everyday.
Fabulous shots, but the first and the last are my favorites.

Nice shots. Those little guys are the same as the ones who've moved into our town in the last fifteen years and now pretty much think they own the place.
This is an awesome study of these very cute animals. Your photos are absolutely marvelous.
Fantastic series! That last one really made me smile.
awwww the look a lil like chip and dale!!
Cute shots.. especially like the last one! Sorry I been so quiet these last couple weeks, I’ve been really ill (now finally diagnosed with Whooping Cough even though I was immunized) and have had another very rough week.
wow, it looks as if only waiting for you .. so that they can provide for you in the right light;-) .. beautiful scene ..
regards Frank

You never cease to amaze me. I love the squirrels. The facial experssions are pricelsss. Another treat ... thank you, Brian.
