Eagle Eye II

I went back and visited the bald eagle from my first Eagle Eye post last month. The eagle is being cared for by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. I talked to one of the girls at the center and she told me this particular eagle had been shot and that's why it can no longer fly. They had another eagle, but it died and she said they believe it was 18-20 years old at the time.

Wonderful images, you can see what a formidable predator he must be. I love the detail in his feathers.
I don't think one could get close enough to get these shots were it not captive.

Bitter sweet these photos. It's tough to see this magnificent bird incapacitated but heartening at the same time that it is being cared for. Altogether it's wonderful to see this bird in otherworldly detail. Quite a show!
Cheers!

thank heavens for the refuges available and ongoing welfare for injured birds. This Bald Eagle is so handsome; great to get so close for your photos.

is live stream (hopefully goon on the day you might check-in). Be patient!

The three chicks have grown and starting to stretch their wings a lot this afternoon I see. I'm wondering how long before they take off out the ledge?

Beautiful shots of a gorgeous bird Brian! That last photo is truly special. The looks you can get from a raptor like this are amazing. And just take a look at those talons will ya?

Hey Carole, thanks for the link to the Peregrine Falcon cam! Very cool!

great shots. :) You really got close to the eagle. But, are the beak supposed to be that long? It looks strange somehow.
