All Mine

Normally, I don't use a lot of effects on my photos, but occasionally I like to play around with them and see if I can come up with something pleasing. This is a male House Finch who seemed rather proud of his prize. I used Old Paper and a soft black border.

Hi there - I think the thing to do with 'effects' is to not use them very often. So when you do use them it’s worthwhile - as in the case here.

Nice picture.

I agree, Brian. The effects are fun once in a while, as in this case, but your photos are so good, overusing the effects would detract. This shot is great with the softening, but I am sure it was great without it! I tend to be a purist with my photography, preferring to present what I have, good or bad! But, I will "take out" a power line, if it is a detractor...

fun to play with texture plates and I couldn't help but smile and think of Groucho Marx when I saw this photo

Ahh, what a lovely "mouseterpiece" you have created!

I have to agree with Linda, your photographs are perfect without all the textures. In this case though, since it definitly looks like this House Finch in smoking a cigar,it adds a "manly touch" to it!

I like what you did with this shot. Like you, I don't play around with many of my shots... but I do like to. :) I don't always have the time.

Mr. House Finch is making a serious claim on that sunflower seed. Having the camera to zoom in and catch busy birds is a thrill. Having extra tools like special effects is gravy. Nice work.

Thanks for stopping by today!
I used Old Paper as well on my Garden District photo, love that.

Ah phooey on the editing poo-poos! I love using textures and editing to enhance my photos. You just go on with your bad self! Love this image, Brian. Lol. :)

It works well. I have often thought about posting a few images like this. Maybe I should try.

Great job Brian! I like the looks of this. But I agree with some of the others that your photos are really beautiful as they are. I don't edit mine very often, but it is fun to play with them once in awhile.

Those are cool effects. I think they would really cool on one of those old barns also.

Brian I'm like you, once in a while playing with the effects is fun... sometimes the photo dances when I incorporate small changes. I agree with most of the comments I've read, your shots are astounding as is, but this one you've added the effects to is also fantastic. Do what makes your heart dance... a brilliant way to live! (like you need my advice, but you're getting it for free so what the heck eh? lol)

Great shot, love to watch finches, sparrows and juncos out my window at their feeder.

Great shot and I love what you did with it.

You take awesome photos all on their own so no effects are needed.
However I do like what you've done with this shot. Sometimes it's just fun to play around and see what you can create.

Great shot and lovely textures & edit.

I don't like playing around too much either as you probably know. I tried a few texture edits the other week with flowers but I.ve never thought of trying birds.
Well done, I like it!
