Snakes In The Grass II

My slithery little friends have been back since I first showed them to you last month (Snakes In The Grass). Sometimes they hang around for a photo op and other times they slither off quickly. I guess everyone has days they don't want their photo taken.

I might have a comment when I can stop shivering!lol Amazing photos, Brian! The one where the snake is giving you the evil eye is incredible, as is the one with his tongue out! Thank goodness for that 500mm lens...would hate to have to be very close to get those...even if it is just a garter snake. It looks HUGE from the perspective you have photographed!

all great shots, the last two really awesome...

You got the tongue, and did it well. I took images, not as grand as yours of a Gray Rat Snake, our first of the season the other day. Very good images of these very useful creatures Brian~

These are just as great as the first ones. The shots with just the little heads are cute. You make even a snake look good!

You stayed around longer than I could have and came away with some terrific shots!
I've been afraid of snakes since I was four or five and found one crawling up the window where I was playing with a toy cash register. :)
The shot of it looking straight at you reminds me of a little dinosaur head and I'm thinking that tongue was telling you the photo session was over!
Excellent captures!

You got some incredible pictures of the snakes. I love the one where he is peeking through the fence. I really don't like snake so I would be the one not hanging around for the photo op.

He's a big one! Nice pics. I really like the way you framed that next to the last one.

You got a great series of shots of this fellow. I really like the one with the two of you eye to eye. I think he's cute too.

Amazing shots! You must have been nose-to-nose with them. I really love the next to last one.

Again... I still hate snakes, there is not a lens long enough for me! But Brian these are wonderful. I love the one with the tongue.

Wonderful to see Brian... we only have one poisonous snake in the UK the adder.. and it's a rare little reptile ..

Oh gosh those are great shots BK!! Beautiful (if bashful) snakes...when I'm walking out in the swamps, I'm happy for bashful of course!

I'm also happy that I'm not the only one who added a reptilian post to the more conventional cute critters on CC!

Incredible composition and clarity. This snake has tons of personality.

Handsome "narrow fellow in the grass." I like the yellow racing stripe. Nice catch on that bright red tongue. I'm imaging your following him around to get all those shots. Bet that would have been camera-worthy too.

Excellent shots of these scaly creatures! You captured the snakes beautifully! You never know what is lurking in the grass...

Our garter snakes spend a lot of time swimming up at the cabin. Whenever I go for a swim I always keep one eye over my shoulder. I know they won't hurt me, but getting a slithery surprise while in the water is something I want to avoid. - Margy

Wow, those last two shots are amazing. I'm not fond of large snakes but we don't have many around these parts thankfully.

Very nice. The next-to-last one looks like he's looking out the door of his house.

Amazing shots! I doubt I will ever get a snake picture because I would be afraid to take my eyes off him long enough.
