Not my favourite creature but this photo is a favourite.

Yikes…even though it's harmless, this is one of God's creatures I do not care for. I love the tall grass surrounding it. And, that you can see its body slithering from under something. Good eye!

Not a fan of snakes, but this one is awesome!

Nice, even if it is a snake. We had one visit the other day. Actually, I suppose it wasn't visiting, but lives here. At least it is a Garter and not something deadly.

Great shot, even though I'm not a fan of snakes - or of spiders either!!! His eye is so bright and sharp!!

Good spotting, they are hard to see. Used to try to catch as a kid, they are actually quite silky to touch.

Amazing expression you caught here. (Although I don't know how i would feel about having a snake in front of my lens) :) So sharp as well!

We have garter snakes more in the fields. I can handle them but any bigger snakes no.

Great take with his head so erect.
Brian and your greenery grass so pretty.

Love the take.

Scary, but a magnificent photo. That bright grass is a perfect foil for his scales. Cheers, Jean

He's pretty! Nice focus on the eye. I have so many snake images to post and I think my readers will not like them! But I think they make great photo subjects.

Nice picture - we saw some young snakes on our last holiday - but I think its getting bait too chilly for them to be out and about now.

Wow it's hard to get a good picture of a snake because they are usually very quick with a get-a-way. Fantastic capture and look at the intense stare.
