You've made it easy to see the contrast in the male and female plumage. The hen almost disappears and the drake with that emerald green head is hard to miss.

Here, Mallards are (I would think) the most common and most recognised duck and, however often I see them, I never cease to admire (marvel!) at the colours of the male nor to tire of watching all of them duck and dive and swim and generally potter about.

This is a lovely photo. Caught at just the right moment.
