Right Rudder

What struck me as unique about this photo was the appearance that the gull was using its right wing as a rudder while flying with the left wing. If only they could do that! The other aspect of the photo I liked was the transparency of the right wing along the back edge - almost like a feather x-ray.

Nice flight shot Brian. Love to see one of those in the uk. Lovely blue sky unlike our grey rainy one today.

An incredible shot...the flight shots are so difficult to capture...what a wonderful job you did here and I like what you wrote...that is exactly what it looks like.

It's always a bonus when the photographer points out what he/she likes about a photo they took. Such an interesting flying method from this pretty gull. I do love how the light is enhancing each individual feather in that right wing. This gives "right wing" a whole new perspective. :) Great photo, Brian!

i love the feather detail - and like you said - almost transparent look to that wing. i also like how it leads into the black feathers with spots. for some reason, it reminds me of beautiful fabric (and i'm not a seamstress or fashionista!)

Beautiful shot! I like how his feet are tucked up under his tail. I suppose all birds fly like that, but I've never noticed it before.

I really like the feather detail too, great capture.

It is great. I love it. Seagulls can be rather ordinary along the water's edge...but I love them. This is super.
