Beautiful! Love herons. Yes it was a frosty morning on Sunday, about -7C.
It was a beautiful morning with fog on the lakes but we were on our way to the hunting ground for training with our dogs.

It is just amazing with as big as these birds are, where they can land and stand! Very nice job as usual.

Your birds' eyes are always so sharp and clear.

the first photo, he looks rather sweet - and the feather patterns are gorgeous! i love the curmudgeony look of pulled up and ruffled 'fur' in the 2nd. then the intense glare/stare/focus of the next 2. great job, heron master!

Stunning shots as usual, Brian!! I love all the different poses. Herons are quite wonderful to watch. I'd love a longer zoom to capture shots like this!

It's amazing how such big, long legged birds can land on a tree stump or small branch. From Findlay

An excellent series Brian!
You have patience and it shows in your captures.

Great pictures - I like the 3rd one the most - I like the way the branches frame the bird and give it a context.

Thanks for linking to WBW.

Master of all he surveys. Great shots, Brian!

Glad you put in some photos of the bird on two legs. Thought he was a candidate for the heron paralympics. Or was working on his lamp impressions. Wouldn't that be a cool thing for your man cave--a one legged heron lamp --ha!

Nice images of one of my favorite birds!
They look more at home standing in the water than perched in a tree!

I always learn something from your photography, Brian. Today I think you've just illustrated the "rule of thirds" which a good friend told me about some time ago? I halfway understood what she was saying, but your blue heron makes it plain now.

Great shots of the Blue Heron! I am always so happy to see them. There is a reservoir in near my home that has a lot of dead trees in it. We often seen heron's roosting there.

Amazing shots, Brian! It's nice of you to call this a humble blog, but it's really anything but. These shots are fantastic. The third one is my favorite.
