Kentucky Barns...Retirement

At one time, this barn and the property it sits on were used for horses. It was primarily a boarding facility and I always saw horses in the pasture when I'd drive by. The barn and property have since been sold to a large railroad company. I have no idea what the property will be used for now or whether the barn itself will remain.

It seems such a shame that it isn't used any longer...what a pretty view! (Well, except for those power lines, that is!)

Looks too good to tear down. Hopefully it will remain and be used again some day.

Great habitat for Barn Owls. I hope they leave it up.

sorry it is not horse-utilized any longer. it's beautiful - lots of kentucky style w/ a bit of texas rust. :)

Beautiful photos. I love the color of the sky in the first one. I hope they don't tear this beauty down.

Sadly it is probably being used as a tax write off is all. That is too bad, would be wonderful to see horses by it again I am sure.

This is still a nice barn. I hope it will be used in the future and not torn down. Pamela

What a beautiful barn (and setting). I hate to think about it being torn down, but that is probably where it's headed. Too bad that someone can't buy it, dismantle it, and move it (though that takes money).

I wonder if any racehorses were ever boarded here....

I share some of the sentiments already expressed. The good thing is you have captured an image of the barn for posterity and for our enjoyment.

Seems so empty without horses there I bet. I hope it's not razed for another retail space. :/

Hopefully the RR will find a use for it.

I like the tiny hayloft door.
It looks like it's in pretty good shape so I hope the RR keeps it.
Nice shot Brian!

I hope they keep it up and find a good use for it. I do think it would be beautiful to see the horses around it.

Be nice if the new owners would turn it into one of those farmer's restaurants/shops that are springing up all over. Even better to plant a few grape vines for pressing!

Brian, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to give me such good advice about cameras. I think for right now I'm going to concentrate on using all the features on my present camera--as Janis in PA says--getting off the green square. I have time before Russia to change my mind. I'm saving your comment for future reference for sure though.
