Gettin' Low

This Green Heron was preening itself when it saw something in the water and decided to get lower and investigate. Whatever is was, it either left or the heron wasn't interested.

Amazing detail in those shots! So gorgeous! And, thanks for publishing the shooting info...it helps me understand a little better!

Excellent series of shots. Do they call them 'green' herons because their legs are green? Just wondering. Pamela

You and your camera stuck with him right to end. Every shot was worth it.

Isn't there a yoga move called, "the heron"? If not there should be. Great pics!

My what beautiful neck extensions you have Mr Heron! Wow, this really is an amazing series of photos Brian...It is so cool to get the same bird with his neck both ways.

If looks could kill ... The Green Heron has a mean looking face that probably freezes the fish out of fear ... Great pictures, Brian. You are the man! Thanks again for showing me how it should be done.

Great photos of the heron. I am always surprised at the poses birds can get into - certainly not like anything one finds in bird books!
