Awesome! These guys are usually so still and many times hiding among the reeds. This one gave you some action and you took full advantage. :)

really cute. the first few show off his loooong legs, then he outdoes them with his loooong neck! :)

A great series. It always amazes me how long the neck is when it is stretched out.

Is that a bittern? so unexpected in a human frequented location.

i really like the interesting blend of colors/feather patterns in this guy!!

is the neck stretch when he spotted you??

This is awesome because you can really see some detail, especially in the feet, that is hard to see when they are in their natural habitat. Of course I drool over your pictures anyway ... you are soooooo awesome.

This is one intense fellow--those eyes and the way it walks on those splayed out feet. Such exotic markings and colors though. Can see why you enjoy taking pics of them, Brian--lots of personality.

What an interesting bird. He looks so funny walking around almost as if he's on tip toes. Love your shots.

I wanted to say this bird looks so "awkward" on land but decided to go with geeky, kinda like the geeky kid in school with the glasses and loooong legs! :)
