Railroad Spires

This is a nighttime photo of the building that houses the RJ Corman Railroad steam locomotive known as "Old Smokey". The engine carried passengers and freight in China prior to coming to the United States. The track actually runs into the building and there's a garage-style door on the left end that opens to allow the locomotive to move in and out as needed.

The center spire on the building is 45 feet tall and the two end spires are 28.5 feet each. This was a handheld shot and I "skewed" the building by getting close with a wide angle lens.

0.5 sec. f/6.3 ISO 800

Great birds...now super trains...This shot will always be one of my favorites. I adore trains like a child, and there is something about this shot that is magical. All the red and white. Awesome night shot. So glad you like my babies. They will go out and about before we know it and no more pictures. It has been fun. Sort of a one in a lifetime experience for me.genie

What can I say...another incredible photo. I guess we both have trains in mind, this week. I'm going back on Sunday to photograph the finished mural on railroad history.

This shot would make a fabulous poster--very exciting feel to this image. A real study in contrasts all around.

A question, Brian-when you take photos of unusually tall buildings, how do you avoid the church, for example, looking like it's about to topple backwards? Having a real issue with this since started shooting churches.
