Giddyup, Housey!

1/200 sec. f/8 ISO 1250

This is the first photo I've ever posted in HDR. I've been wanting to use HDR for a while now, but just recently started playing with it. This photo is actually the third version. The first two were a bit more extreme and though I like how they turned out, they looked more like paintings than photos. I generally prefer to keep my photos more natural looking. I'll be using HDR with more of my shots, but not everything. It often gets overused.

Brian, you did great with this shot. I love the cute wren and is that a birdhouse? It is adorable! Happy Sunday!

HDR works well in this instance for sure. What a cute bird house and bird and title. I use HDR once in a while when it works. Have a great day!

You'll get even more great shots when the wren takes up residence and raises a family in there Brian.

Brian...I'm not sure what HDR is [color me with blond roots under my silver stands] ---but whatever it is, I really LIKE your image. Extraordinary.

As photography goes I'm not a fan of HDR. In this case Brain this one turned out just right. It's not over cooked like most of them. In my opinion you are doing something right. Keep on clicking.

Oh WOW. I lOVE this photo and your caption!! Yes, I'm assuming too that it's a birdhouse. How very cute - and clever.

That's one fantastic bird house that sweet little Wren is perched on.

Great shot and HDR, Brian.

i just want to reach in and pluck that cute fat bird off his perch. :)

just a question, do you use the photo program that takes your image and creates HDR from it or do you use the method that takes several frames and stacks them into one image? guessing with a live, flitty bird, you used the first or you'd end up with a smear.

I'm not familiar with HDR. Google tells me it's a software? Meanwhile, I'm giggling at the caption and really liking the unusual birdhouse. Great shot.

Such a cute shot. I wouldn't have known it was HDR'd if you hadn't said. And that's a good thing, IMHO. The purpose of HDR as a tool In recovering lost data in over and under exposed areas of a scene has been forgotten, or never understood. The artsy look does have its place, but I don't want my photos to look like paintings either. They're photographs. Good job!

I totally agree with you about HDR. I have a post coming up with an old store that I used the process on and it was okay. Still not a big fan, but if it's subtle, I really like it. On this shot it really brings out the weathered wood on the bird house. What a neat bird house, btw!

It's gorgeous Brian! Interesting about the HDR. I don't know much about that but the result of this photo is fantastic. And I do love that saddle birdhouse right along with the little wren :)

I like this a lot. Not just the subject matter either. I agree that HDR is overused, but this one is very subtle and nice. Hoping to see more in the future.
