The Food Chain

It's funny how the mood changes when the upper echelon of the food chain shows up.

From blue to dusky pink, when the big birds arrive, yes,the small ones flee in haste.Love the bare outline of the tree branches. Cheers. Jean.

That was a big change! Guess its pretty easy to tell who is king of the mountain (or branch!). Great shots showing the changes!

The hawks really broke up the party in a hurry. :)

oh yes. The noisy miners here will gang up and sqwark away endlessly until the odd one out dissapears. It's always quite amazing really, that the smaller bird can boss away the big birds. In your case though the bigguns won out

Ha! I like how one bird is already flying away while the rest look as though they're voicing their displeasure. Cool shots!

Lol. The last thing one wants is a vulture hanging around and waiting for the inevitable...or in this case, a hawk. Best get on the move.

Ha, love it! The hawk looks like it is saying "where did everyone go?". I was a little worried of what I was going to see in this post with the title:)

Love it! Boy, I bet those redwings and the robin took off in a hurry when the hawks showed up! :-) Lovely shots! I've been meaning to tell you that the white wing dove's bill is indeed curved and sturdy. He is a bigger bird than the mourning dove, and the blue on his face extends from his eye down to his bill, instead of just being the blue circle you see on the mourning dove. I saw a collared dove one day in the yard also, but he was gone before I realized and could take a picture! Most of my bird pictures are backlit or too far away, but I do my best! :-) I was proud of the dove shots on top of the saguaro though. Some of my better ones. I always appreciate your kind comments about my pictures! Have an awesome weekend!

Poor little blackbirds...but that is life and those Hawks are awesome. One flew over our house the other day (there is one in the neighborhood) but again no camera handy.
