Hide And Seek

For only the second time, I recently managed to photograph a Green Heron. I saw him fly from the edge of the lake into a tree in the middle of a small cove. Each time I moved to try to get a clear photo, the heron would move and try to hide behind a branch. Just my luck I found a heron with a sense of humor. We played the hide and seek game for a few minutes until I decided it was as good as it was going to get.

Kentucky Barns...It's All About Location

This rather nondescript, whitish and green barn is well maintained, but isn't what I would call fancy or unique. As they say in the real estate business, however, it's all about location, location, location.

This barn happens to be in a great location with a fantastic view.

Cloud Mountains

These evening cloud formations were quite impressive in their height and ever changing shape. They came through ahead of a large storm front.

Lake Views

This is a lake where I fish bass tournaments with a good friend of mine. It's our second year fishing this tournament division as a team. The lake is man made and was built eleven or twelve years ago strictly for the purpose of fishing. There is no swimming, skiing, or personal watercraft allowed on the lake. Artificial structures were put in place for the fish prior to the damming and all of the trees were left, so there is a lot of standing timber in the water. The lake is becoming known for having big bass and the state has strict size and bag limits in place. It's located in a rural part of the state and is surrounded primarily by farm land.

The lake is also home to bald eagles, herons, egrets, waterfowl, and a wide variety of smaller birds.

Killdeer are common little plovers and famous for their injured act to protect the nest, but this is the first time one stood still long enough for me to get photos.
